P442 renewable sleeving

Use qualifying renewable export at another site.

P442 can allow renewable electricity exported at one site to be matched, half hour by half hour, with electricity used somewhere else. Eligible excess that is not matched may still earn an SEG or commercial export tariff payment. There is no private cable.

The power moves through the public grid.

Qualifying export is matched with participating demand. A licensed supplier provides top up power whenever generation does not cover that demand.

An Exempt Supply Notification Agent, or ESNA, validates the matched, top up and spill volumes. Eligible unmatched spill can then be paid under an SEG or other export tariff.

Use surplus from one property to support another.

If one building exports qualifying renewable electricity, P442 may allow that volume to be matched with consumption at another participating building or occupier site. Any eligible unmatched spill can retain value through an SEG or commercial export tariff. CSCONCEPT analyses eligibility, half hourly matching, spill and the full cost before recommending a route.

01

Export

A renewable site exports qualifying surplus electricity into the public grid.

02

Match

The export is matched, half hour by half hour, with electricity used at another participating site.

03

Settle

A licensed supplier and ESNA record the matched renewable volume, any top up electricity and any unmatched spill. The sites are not directly wired together.

04

Value the spill

Eligible unmatched export may still earn an SEG or commercial export tariff payment. CSCONCEPT tests that value alongside every supplier, metering and service charge.

Test the opportunity before anyone commits.

  • Match half hourly export and consumption data
  • Identify suitable generator and receiving sites
  • Price supplier, ESNA, metering, monitoring and network costs
  • Model renewable match, supplier top up and SEG/export spill value
P442 is not a private wire and it does not make electricity free.

Eligibility, supplier participation, matched volumes, SEG/export spill value and all service charges determine whether there is a genuine saving.

P442 without the jargon.

Is P442 a direct cable between two sites?

No. Electricity still travels through the public grid. P442 is the matching and settlement arrangement used to identify qualifying renewable export against consumption at another participating site.

What happens when generation is lower than demand?

The licensed supplier provides top up electricity for the shortfall. The renewable and top up shares are recorded for each half hour period.

Can unmatched export still earn an SEG payment?

Potentially, yes. Electricity not matched to the receiving site can be sold under an eligible Smart Export Guarantee or commercial export tariff, provided the generator, export meter and supplier arrangement qualify. We model the likely match, spill and export value before recommending a route.

Can the same electricity receive both P442 value and an SEG payment?

No. The matched volume and the unmatched spill are accounted for separately. SEG or export tariff payment applies only to eligible electricity that has not already been allocated to the receiving site.

Does P442 always save money?

No. Supplier, ESNA, metering, monitoring and applicable network charges still apply. The matched value must be greater than the complete cost.
